The French love to oppose their "sacred Republican values" (and the Glorious Revolution that goes with), with "terrorism" or "barbarity".

They forgot that the word "terrorisme" was actually invented by the French population to depict the Republicans. The word "terrorisme" originally referred to the "state terrorism" practiced by the French revolutionary government during the Reign of terror

The Reign of Terror (1793 – 1794) was a period of violence that occurred after the onset of the French Revolution. The Terror was marked by authoritarian regimes and mass executions of the "enemies of the revolution". The death toll ranged in the tens of thousands. And 80% of the victims didn't belong to the nobility or the clergy.

Deportations and executions of political prisoners:

These executions were organized methodically on a massive scale for instance by drowning people. In the city of Nantes, thousands of people (including old people, women, children, babies, wounded or disabled) were loaded nude on boats and tied to it, that was then drowned into a river while the army was shooting at them.

14-15 December 1793: the "Marat" (the soldiers of the Revolution) arrived to Bouffay's prison, most them are drunk. They are not quite ready to consult their lists, and pull the prisoners from their cells in haphazard. The prisoners are tied two by two on a stone after being stripped of their belongings and money and embarked on the boat that will be drowned. [source]

October 13, 1794: 41 people are drowned in the Bay of Bourgneuf: 2 men (including a blind old man of 78 years), 12 women, 12 girls and 15 children (10 from 6 to 10 years, and 5 infants). [source]

I saw the drowning and the cutting into pieces of more than 800 people of all ages and sexes. Fouquet and some of his acolytes blame others for not knowing how to use their swords and took some example to show how it should be done. Since the boat was not sinking fast enough, they fired gunshots on the victims. The horrible cries of these unfortunate victims only motivated more their tormentors. The victims were undressed. They were completely naked. Women asked to keep their shirts, but they were not allowed. Those who had robbed the victims of their belonging sold them the next morning to the highest bidder.

On top of that, the French revolution failed completely to build the republican system which was only built in 1906: 117 years later. This article talks about this (rather embarrassing) french denial.
